The solar system is made up of the following:
6 x 200 watt panels for a total maximum of 1.2 Kilowatts per hour.

You can wire these in "series" or in "parallel". Series means you can run lower voltage equipment for much longer while parallel increases the amps and means that you have the energy needed for higher voltage equipment in short, powerful bursts.

My system is in "series". This is why I can have all the lights on, watch hours of TV and run the fans all night off the batteries. It is also why the coffee maker sometimes trips the breaker before the sun comes up.

There is an electrical port outside, near the bathroom door to plug in a generator which supplements the power on cloudy days if needed. I have never had to plug it in.

Charge Controller which manages the input to the batteries to stop over charging.
8 Deep Cycle Batteries which are designed to drain slowly and charge quickly.

The 2500 Watt Inverter which converts DC power from the batteries to AC power, able to run 2500 watts of stuff at a time. (eg. a LED light bulb is 5-6 watts) .
